The collection documents the career of Professor Macleod in Central Michigan University (CMU)'s Department of History through departmental agendas, meeting minutes, policies, and notices, 1970-2000, as well as the various committees Macleod served on, including the Graduate Committees, Strathclyde, International Education and Long-Range Planning committees materials which led to the creation of and support for the History Exchange Program between Strathclyde University, Scotland, and CMU, 1980s-1990s. Other committees, departmental projects and a myriad of issues, such as teacher education, certification, preparedness, and testing, use of graduates, writing requirements, are also well documented. Departmental newsletters, 1976-2004 (Scattered), are also included. This History Department series compose most of the collection, Boxes 1-8 (part), about 4 cubic feet. The second series consists of Boxes 8 (part) -12, about 2 cubic feet, and documents CMU committees, mostly Academic Senate and General Education committees, council, subcommittees, ad hoc committees, the Graduate Council, and the Clarke Historical Library Director Search Committee, all of which Professor Macleod served on or chaired. Materials include mostly correspondence, including emails, agendas, meeting minutes, related materials, reports, official documents, surveys, proposals, forms, drafts, resolutions. The last folder includes documents the crisis of loss of CMU's faculty's confidence in President Edward B. Jakubauskas, 1989, which resulted in his resignation.

Macleod, born June 8, 1943, earned his B.A. at the University of Toronto in 1965 and both his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1967 and 1973, respectively.
